Construction of a concentrate repreparation building at the Mikhaylovsky Mining and Processing Plant named after A. V. Varichev

Mikhaylovsky JSC, an asset of MC Metalloinvest, is one of the largest iron ore mining and processing facilities in Russia and the CIS.

The task set by the Management was to improve the quality of products and increase iron content in concentrate up to 71 %. The overall production of high quality concentrate is expected to achieve 16.4 Mta.

Several Minerals engineers have successfully developed and integrated process solutions for the milling and classification circuits. These solutions allow the whole plant to achieve process targets in the final products. Sever Minerals used vertical grinding mills and hydrocyclones with a feed pump in the new building.

Sever Minerals' solution included engineering services, delivery of equipment, installation supervision, and commissioning.

- Development of detail and basic engineering

- Energy-efficient vertical grinding mills Vertimill 4500

- Installation of pump and cyclone classification and auxiliary equipment

The concentrate repreparation building produced concentrate for the subsequent production of blast-furnace pellets and metallization pellets (DR grade). As a result of the improved quality of its pellets, Mikhaylovsky JSC has improved its export potential and strengthened its position in the Russian market.
