The Kovdorsky Mining and Processing Plant modernisation project was launched in 2016, when the crusher was delivered; the project is to be implemented in full in 2020.
The customer needed to increase capacity, output product quality and reduce the time of scheduled and emergency downtime. To solve this problem, it was necessary to replace obsolete crushers at the stages of coarse and medium/fine crushing.
The solution offered by Sever Minerals consisted of three projects:
- supplying three jaw crushers and grizzly screens for coarse crushing;
- supplying two Metso cone crushers for medium/fine crushing;
- supplying an apron feeder and a roller grizzly feeder for medium/fine crushing.
Implementation of the project has already increased performance and reduced the costs for crushing of apatite/magnetite ores at Kovdorsky Mining and Processing Plant. Following the upgrade, the capacity of the crushing plant will exceed 21 million tons a year, with improved quality of the output crush and reduced operating expenses.
