METSO MDM700 TAILING PUMPS INSTALLATION PROJECT

Sever Minerals has signed a contract with one of its key clients to deliver two large-size tailing pumps.

The customer needed equipment that would solve a major issue: to increase the distance and volume of tail pumping because the plant’s existing tailing pond was almost full.

Two Metso MDM700 pumps became a solution for that. This is a unique project for Russia: MDM700 pumps are so far installed only in Peru and Mexico.

At the company’s slurry pump station (SPS), processing subproducts are now pumped by four dual pump units (pumping packages operating in two stages), the total capacity is 14,000 m3/h. Once the new pumps are installed, the site capacity will boost up to 19,000 m3/h.

The first pump has already been fabricated, and the second one is at its final fabrication phase. All equipment under the contract is expected to be delivered in February — March 2021. The commissioning of the equipment is scheduled for early in third quarter of 2021.
